Dr. Paul J. Veugelers at the University of Alberta, Canada, found students eat enough fruits, vegetables, protein, fiber and other nutrients are less likely to slip literacy test.
The group looked at nearly 5,000 students in grades 5 and found that 19.1% slide in reading writing.
Students as eating well, based on the number and diversity of the menu, the less likely they slide test. Eat more vegetables, less fat also helps achieve better exam results.
Veugelers said that previous studies focused on the importance of breakfast and the harmful effects of the lack of nutrients. "This new research demonstrates the importance of overall nutritional quality of learning outcomes," they concluded.
